Deploy

Step 1

Deploying your Mark My Mooring is simple to do. We keep it tethered with the Velcro Straps to the side of the rail, for easy storing and deployment.

Step 2

Simply unhook the Mark My Mooring (the Velcro straps remain attached to the base of the bow rails).

Step 3

Place the bottom base of Mark My Mooring into the center of the Mooring Ball, if you have a larger mooring ball, and need more stick, just shorten the protective orange foam, move your white plastic cap up and secure with the hose clamps. This allows you to have more stick to place in the mooring ball.

Step 4

The Mark My Mooring is strong, light and easy to handle. Make sure your balance and footing is solid and it's best not to have other crew close by, as you deploy the marker. Safety First!

Step 5

Yes, it looks like I’m getting ready to spear the mooring ball but with a little practice, your aim will be great! Don’t forget to SINK this pole into the mooring ball, not just a few inches in, it needs to be inserted at least 12” to 18” in order to stay secure!

Step 6

Sometimes, it’s a reach, but the captain can easily pull forward to bring me closer to the mooring ball so it isn’t such a reach. Here, I CAREFULLY hold onto the rail, as I am reaching a bit, just to show how easily it can be done.

Step 7

Now that my Mark My Mooring is in place, I can let go of my bow lines.

Step 8

The wind here makes it easy to show how nice the windsock is, and how easy it will be upon our return to see our mooring, differentiated from all the other moorings out there!

Step 9

Another succesful deployment of the Mark My Mooring.

Retrieval

Step 1

Another succesful deployment of the Mark My Mooring.

Coming back to base, Mark My Mooring makes it easy to see the wind direction. You always want to head "INTO" the wind as you go to retrieve your Mark My Mooring. You can see how easy it is for the Captain to head toward, and keep our bow right on the mooring, especially since he can’t see the ball. It’s a bit windy here but with Mark My Mooring, the Captain can pull right up, giving me an easy opportunity to grab the lines with lots of room to manuver. No longer do I have to fight to pull taut lines in, or yell directions back to the Captain who can’t hear me anyway in the wind!

Step 2

Coming in closer ready to grab the lines with telescoping boat hook. Again, the windsock takes the guess work out of which way the wind is heading.

Step 3

Easy grab with the telescoping boat hook, as the boat is perfectly lined up with the mooring.

Step 4

See how he keeps the bow right up against the Marker? He doesn’t need to “GUESS where the mooring ball is” and I have plenty of slack to work with the lines.

Step 5

I can slowly and confidently attach the slack line to the cleat without tugging or pulling to hang onto the line, and without having to look down to direct the Captain as to where the mooring ball is.

Step 6

To provide more slack, just gently navigate so the Maker is on the side to be tied up first, in this case the starboard side. Then pivot if needed to bring the nose of the bow around to the port side.

Step 7

Gently navigate to center or to Port, so the Maker is on the side to be tied.

Step 8

After attaching the lines to the bow, I remove the Mark My Mooring and secure it back onto the bow rails using the Velcro, till next time!

Step 9

Returning the Mark My Mooring to its storage place!

Step 10

Store the Marker in its place using the two Velcro Straps provided with the kit.

Threading in the Swivel Arm, into the built in Pole Swivel.

Step 3A

Attaching Windsock to Swivel Arm ensures in low wind conditions the Windsock is highly visible.
